SNF partners with our customers to review results from their use of our products and to validate performance, especially in terms of cost and yield.

In 2017, the University of Georgia Department of Horticulture in Tifton, Georgia conducted a field trial of FLOBOND™ DI 2010 on Aristotle (Seminis Seeds) Bell Peppers through drip irrigation. During the trial, soil moisture sensors were used to determine total soil moisture content on crops with and without the use of FLOBOND™ DI 2010.

The treated plots had a higher soil volumetric water content (VWC) when measured at an 8-inch depth compared to the Control (Untreated) plots. This indicated water movement outward and down throughout the bed is brought about with the use of FLOBOND™. Results suggested that water moved more quickly out to the planted row (edges) of the beds in the treated plots versus the Control. Treated plants were more vigorous ad generally showed improved color over control plants.

In 2017, Delta F.A.R.M. and SNF, in cooperation with John McKee (Producer), conducted a field trial on cotton to evaluate yield and profitability with the addition of aerially-applied granular polyacrylamide (PAM), which is known to reduce soil crusting and improve water infiltration.

The use of PAM visibly reduced crust formation, as noted during in-season soil assessments. Also, soil moisture sensor data confirmed increases in water infiltration while demonstrating potential for improving yield and profitability.

In 2016, a controlled study was conducted at the University of Georgia Ornamental Horticulture Greenhouse Complex in Athens, GA. Hibiscus acetosella (Cranberry Hibiscus) plants were grown and various treatments included a Control (Untreated), AQUASORB™ applied at 3 lb. per cubic yard, and 4 lb. per cubic yard, respectively.

Results concluded that plant size was noticeably larger with AQUASORB™ treated plants versus the Control. Additionally, irrigation water volume demand decreased significantly with increasing AQUASORB™ rate of application.

Polyacrylamide (PAM) was injected into a well head during initial flood on a rice field. The PAM was applied on 3 x 40 acre blocks with checks adjacent. Yield monitor readings showed an average of 5.5 bushels per acre in the fields where PAM was applied.

In the fall of 2015, AQUASORB™ was added late in the season to sweet corn crops. Soil tension measured in the treated fields were on average 15 kPa lower than in the untreated fields. This resulted in greater infiltration and moisture retention available.

In 2014, Acosta Farms in Miami, Florida was considering ways to improve water management and save on fertilizer usage, as well as extending shelf-life of plants. A field trial was conducted on Roebelenii Palms with AQUASORB™ KB mixed at 3 lb./cubic yard into the soil. Florikan® 18-6-8 fertilizer was also applied at a rate of 51 g/pot during the 180 day test period.

Results showed that the palms with AQUASORB™ developed healthier root growth and were less water-logged.
